Elephants
If you would like to discover more about elephants (and other endangered animals), this website for the World Wildlife Fund has lots of interesting information on it. This is where I found out all about chilli dung bombs, elephants’ ‘hearing’ feet, right and left tusks as well as all their incredible behaviours to care for each other that we discussed in assembly today. The Suitcase by Otter14
As the ancient suitcase was full,
The man was empty,
His guilt locked inside the lonely case
With his family.
His heart was broken
Like his battered suitcase.
Sat there for days,
Waiting for a forgotten man
To drag it into the black hole
Of the future.

The Suitcase by Butterfly12
Abandoned and tense,
The suitcase waited,
Waiting for the family to be reunited.
The memories inside,
Excited to be opened again.
Thinking about the hands that had been on it.
The dejected girl,
The lonely mother.
Wishing the time would fly by
Until they saw him again.

The Suitcase by Toucan16
Covered by a blanket of guilt,
The battered case
Felt a tear-stained hand
Rummaging around,
Exposing his subdued memories.
Family photos faded in the sadness,
Feeling empty and torn,
The case saw an ancient bowler hat,
His eyes captured the future,
The past,
And the present.

The Suitcase by Iguana24
Empty,
Dejected,
The suitcase bitter and confused,
Anxious of its destination,
Remorselessly trying to grasp sanity,
Determined to grab freedom.
Tormenting itself,
Restless and torn,
It wanders into the abyss,
Brimming with rapturous memories.

The Suitcase by Dolphin19
Battered, old and taken for granted,
The nervous suitcase sat tensely,
Waiting apprehensively to arrive at its mysterious destination.
Thinking of the hands that previously touched it:
A fearful woman,
A tearful girl,
And a guilty man.
What is to happen in the near bittersweet future?
Love is miles away
While fear is spreading.

The Suitcase by Puffin18
Ancient and stained,
The suitcase stood still,
Waiting…
Waiting…
For its contents to be revealed again.
The rough, blackened surface carried memories along.
Both blissful and blue,
Desolate and empty,
The man longed to see his family again.
Solemn and dejected, the smooth words of the diary
Soaked in his tears
Joyful memories flooded his mind
As he carefully folded the elegant paper bird.
Soaring through the big crimson sky
Sending a message
Of love on wings
As the suitcase sits
Waiting…
And waiting.

Freedom by Lemur24
Like a bird soaring across the sky,
Like the beauty of the waves rippling towards the sand,
Like being able to try to achieve your dreams.
Like the shooting stars high above,
The freedom of choosing your path,
The freedom of standing up for what you believe,
The freedom from being taken away.
Everyone deserves freedom.

Freedom by Flamingo17
To be free means to be happy,
To be free means to be powerful,
To be free means to stand up for what is right,
To be free means you thinking you are triumphant,
To be free is feeling big,
To be free is you being you.
That’s being free.
