Penguin Watch
Here’s an interesting ‘citizen science project’ you can all get involved with if you want to. British scientists from Oxford University have set up Penguin Watch. 75 cameras have been placed all over Antarctica and are filming penguins. Each camera takes a picture every hour and they want to count and describe the penguins in every picture. Since they don’t have enough scientists to help, they are asking for help from the public. You can sign up and count penguins and nests on the screen. We are also trying to find out if we can adopt a colony of penguins for the class to look at more. Click on the image to go to Penguin Watch and find out more or on the one below to see the programme about Penguin Watch.

Oxford Owl online books
You can read a range of books online via the Oxford Owl link (in our Resources tab or online directly here). The books are sorted by age groups and go up to aged 9-11. There is not a huge range of books for your age group, but there may be some that you like (including some for other age groups) and they are FREE to read! All you need to do is enter a class name (username) and password. I have sent this to you all via e-mail, which you should be able to open in your We-learn accounts.
We’ll check on Monday that this makes sense to you!

E-safety links
It is really important that you stay safe when you use a computer and the internet.
Remember what we have learned about telling someone if you see anything that makes you feel unsafe.
Never share your personal information online.
Think before you click!
There are lots of places to get help:
Thinkuknow (CEOP link where you can report something you don’t like online).
